"Se publican en este volumen las tres obras autobiográficas de Juan Van Halen. Respecto a las Memorias ó Narración, se edita el texto en castellano de la edición de París, de 1828, realizada bajo los auspicios del propio Van Halen se ha mantenido la división en dos partes, respetando la numeración original de los capítulos. Para el Relato del viaje a Rusia, se ha optado por traducir el texto francés de la edición de 1827, redactado con la ayuda de Charles Rogier en la estación termal de Chaudfontaine, cerca de Lieja, -donde Van Halen reside antes de trasladarse a Bruselas (hay allí una lápida que recuerda esa estancia)-, al no disponer del texto original castellano y haberse escrito "sous les yeux de l'auteur". En el caso de las Cuatro Jornadas de Bruselas, se ha traducido el texto de la edición de Bruselas de 1905" (p. lxx). |
